Good news, what you will read here won’t disappoint you (you can’t miss the confidence in this phrase)

No matter how often we read these confidence quotes in hopes to boost that slight confidence we have, they are not enough to portray confidence and achieve our goals.

It is not some kind of potion as well if we drink from it, we are able to improve our confidence level we all aim to have, especially as a woman, surrounded by the pressure of being active on social media.

Ladies, it takes more than writing a confidence quote caption on our Instagram account.

Let’s stop talking around, and let’s start doing these tips to boost confidence.

Here are the not-so-difficult activities to boost your confidence:

1. Be Happy – Or Find Your Happiness

What makes you happy?

Just thinking about it gives you that feeling of being ”good”, right?

Will happiness boost your self-confidence?

Your source of happiness should come from you and your own capabilities.

If you’re contented with what you are, and what you do, this is an indication that you regard yourself well, thus accepting not only your strengths but your weaknesses as well.

According to Psychology, self-esteem is how you see your worth or how you see your overall sense of self-worth that may lead to a fulfilling life and relationship with yourself and with other people.

Self-esteem and self-confidence are closely related. If you have that healthy self-esteem, you are able to trust in yourself as well. Moreover, self-esteem, according to Carl Rogers, is under the three categories of self-concept.

Other than self-esteem or also known as self-worth, self-concept also consists of self-image and your ideal-self.

To put it simply, self-esteem is how you regard yourself, and how you like yourself despite the negative attributes or qualities you have, while self-confidence is how you trust in yourself in accordance with how you value yourself.

Some individuals claim, an inflated sense-of-worth can also lead to narcissism. A high level of self-esteem is different from narcissism in a way that people with healthy self-esteem view themselves as worthy individuals and equal with other people, however, individuals with narcissistic tendencies think of themselves as superior to others.

So can we become a confident woman through happiness?

Yes.

If you are contented with how you see yourself (self-concept), how you accept yourself, flaws and imperfections (self-esteem), how you perform at work and in your relationship (personal and interpersonal), then it will be palpable.

You don’t have to fake or pretend how to manifest that, it simply shows in you.

When you have that passion and confidence with your work, your boss and your workmates will notice it, eventually boosting that relationship with yourself and with people around you.

You don’t have to search for that happiness in many places and in people, you, yourself, are the source of it.

2. Show it (off!)

Probably you’re thinking now how can you swagger about being confident if you don’t have it, or you think, you don’t have it.

Yes, you just think, you don’t have it.

Don’t even start with that, young lady.

Remember, our mind is way stronger than we think.

So, have you ever been to job interviews or are you one of those who decide who to employ by interviewing people?

If you are the latter, how did you perform in that job interview? To say that you’re nervous (especially if you want that job badly), is an understatement.

You’re a bundle of nerves, I must say! But you know what makes it worse is how you might have portrayed yourself there.

How did you sit during the interview?

Did your shoulders slump during the entire ordeal?

I hope not or it’s entirely the opposite like the photo below.

Research shows that proper posture doesn’t only benefit your health, but it also boosts your confidence as well.

Maintaining a good body posture, whether you’re sitting or standing, can create a good impression in other individuals when they see you.

Creating a positive body language is one of the ways you can develop self-confidence as a woman.

Additionally, it is only people around you who become aware of how you carry yourself in a certain situation.

You might be casually reading while drinking your coffee outside, but your brain could pick that up of how you feel at the moment.

You’re contented alone drinking your coffee, people may not even tell if you have thousand worries running in your head right now.

When I was studying nursing, we were always told to sit up straight when we’re having, what we call our every day dreaded ”small” quizzes.

A rationale for that, we could think clearly and answer our quiz if not ”perfectly” but confidently.

It is not just an empty word or advice from our teacher, who is a nurse by the way, but science supports it as well.

Proper posture promotes not only proper alignment of the bones and joints, but it also facilitates good circulation and adequate oxygenation of our brain.

So, executing a proper posture by sitting up straight can increase the oxygen intake by 30 percent according to Real Simple Magazine.

How to build up self-confidence with a good posture?

Follow these steps:

  1. Stand up straight and tall.
  2. Keep shoulders back and relaxed.
  3. Pull in your abdomen.
  4. Balance your weight evenly on both feet.
  5. Have your arms hang down naturally on both sides of your body.
  6. Keep your head level.

3. Be Positive – Do Things that Positively Influence you and Your Confidence

You can’t be happy ultimately and permanently if you don’t have a positive outlook on life.

How can you even be happy in order to demonstrate positivity?

Simply, have a positive self-concept. That means, look at yourself in the mirror. You might not be satisfied with what you see, but you are contented and accept what you see (self-esteem).

Now, you think being contented with something doesn’t also mean that you don’t work on yourself, further.

If you think working out every day can boost your confidence by creating that ideal image of you, then do it, especially if it makes you happy.

However, don’t be focused on only creating what’s ideal for the sake of other people, but do it for yourself.

Tip: When you exercise, your body releases hormones called endorphins, which effect is similar to morphin, a pain reliever.

By being positive doesn’t only mean having positive self-concept, but it also includes how you think or your thoughts depending on a situation, like how you cope up with difficult trials you encounter every single day, and how you spend your time and with whom you spend it.

You might have heard this a couple of times, but the quality is better than quantity.

Be with people who can influence you in a good way, than with people who not only there for their own benefits, but are the ones who will turn their backs on you if you run on empty already.

4. Learn and take action

If you still remember the three categories of Carl Roger’s self-concept we mentioned above, one of the categories is the ideal self-image.

Having that ideal self-image doesn’t necessarily mean living only in the fantasy of what you wanted to be or how you wanted to be.

Some billionaires are not born billionaires, beauty queens are not born with crowns, and pilots are not born either manuevering airplanes while they’re coming out of their mothers’ garage, or maybe hangar, no pun intended though.

If you want to become these people, work on yourself, but do not forget to avoid being obsessed with the idea of achieving your ideal self-image.

Your self-worth should always level with your effort and endeavors in life. One shouldn’t be blinded by the ambition that they also forget their limitation. Yes, you can stretch your limitation, but don’t overdo them.

However, regardless of how you collected knowledge and ideas if you don’t apply them, it will be meaningless.

Some people who do well or who perform excellently in class don’t have the guarantee that they will land a better job.

People who are born with a silver spoon in their mouths may not be rich for the rest of their lives if they don’t have ideas or even act on it on how to maintain that opulent status.

Fellow ladies, you might not be perfect now, but you’re on the way to becoming a better version of yourself.

Start learning and investing in yourself are some of the best activities to build confidence and boost your self-esteem you should be doing right away.

Your future you will thank you for it.

5. Lessen social media usage

Filters, presets and stock photos.

They make Instagram feed more elegant and presentable to the people but unfortunately, they also arouse false interpretations of what really lies behind the camera.

Do not get me wrong, I love stock photos and I even use them for my blog and social media accounts, but we should simply know when and how to differentiate expectations from the real world.

Some images we find online are almost perfect that we don’t help but wonder, what if I have this and I am that.

Sadly, social media plays a huge role in our society nowadays. We follow what’s trending, and we tend to conform to what is popular and scoff at something which shows more the reality, the raw part of life.

Social media can either overly motivate us or deflate our opinion of ourselves to the point that some tend to be dejected once realization dawn on us — we are not good enough, we are not thin enough, we are not famous enough.

If you’re highly sensitive with what you see online and you want to work more on your true self, lessening the use of social media and spending your time with it is highly recommended – it could be challenging, but one of the most fulfilling activities to build confidence.

Is confidence so important?

Without self-confidence, you are not there where you are now. It doesn’t matter if you think you’re not yet successful or famous enough, but with confidence, you can achieve things even in small steps.

Yet, with self-confidence doesn’t mean we can have everything we imagine we could have, or we could do anything we wanted to do.

Self-confidence paired with self-esteem helps us to accept the fact that not everything will turn out the way we wanted it to be.

Maybe these activities in building your confidence don’t suffice, and you’re still looking for more motivation, here are affirmations for confidence:

  1. I am not perfect but I am happy with who I am and what I am.
  2. I may not be good at everything but I am working on becoming the best version of myself.
  3. I am surrounded by people who accept me who I am.
  4. I love myself.
  5. I am blessed.
  6. I am smart and confident.
  7. I am getting tougher and better every day I wake up.
  8. I have skills and knowledge.
  9. I am doing good for the world and for humanity.
  10. I accept my weaknesses and limitations.
