How To Find Happiness And Peace Of Mind

Finding happiness and peace of mind may sound so simple, like finding a quiet place to meditate expecting everything to go smoothly.

Unfortunately, meditation is not enough to be at peace with yourself or to have a peaceful mind.

We should all be realistic in finding our inner peace. In a world where we wake up, go to work, and sleep, to live in happiness and peace sometimes sounds like an indulgence.

But if living a peaceful life is an indulgence, I wouldn’t mind working my ass off to afford it.

Luckily, achieving that kind of peace and happiness doesn’t necessarily require you to pack your bags and book a flight to Nepal and try to climb Mt. Everest, or go to McKinley Island.

First, let us know the true meaning of happiness and its importance in our lives plus other topics that are relevant in finding happiness and peace of mind.

What is Happiness and Why is it Important?

Happiness is a subjective state of well-being characterized by emotions such as joy, satisfaction, and contentment. Happiness is considered an important goal in life and the pursuit of happiness has been at the core of human existence.

There are many factors that contribute to one’s happiness level. Some of these factors include relationships, personal accomplishments, physical fitness, and financial stability.

Achieving happiness is not an easy task for many people because it requires a lot of work on their part. This includes being mindful about their thoughts and actions in order to achieve a more positive outlook on life.

What is the Difference Between Happiness and Peacefulness?

Happiness is defined as a feeling of contentment and pleasure in one’s life. It is a momentary feeling of joy or elation. Happiness can be derived from many sources including relationships, work, hobbies, and achievements.

Peacefulness on the other hand is a state of tranquillity or calmness that can come from within oneself or from an external source. It is a feeling of being at peace with oneself, others, and one’s environment. Peacefulness can be achieved through meditation or by taking time to relax in nature among other activities.

Is peace of mind a key to happiness?

Many people believe that peace of mind is the key to happiness.

While some people might be happy without peace of mind because they have other things in their life that make them happy but there are many other factors that make people happy such as financial stability, health, and social connections.

But working on achieving peace of mind and inner peace will help you find your satisfaction in life and happiness.

What is the difference between inner peace and peace of mind?

We often hear these phrases – inner peace and peace of mind, and we also think these two are the same but do they convey the same meaning?

The difference between inner peace and peace of mind is that inner peace is a deep sense of being at ease with oneself. Peace of mind, on the other hand, is a state in which one has freedom from worry or anxiety.

Is happiness the same as peace of mind?

Happiness is not the same as peace of mind. Happiness is a state of being, while peace of mind is a state of being in which you are at peace with yourself and your surroundings.

Happiness is about an ongoing sense that everything in one’s life is going well and will continue to go well, while peace of mind is about feeling like the things that happen to oneself are manageable and that one’s qualities such as intelligence or skill level can be measured and improved.

Best ways to find happiness and peace of mind

1. Live in the moment

Is this some kind of living while you’re young?

Yes, kind of, in the sense of appreciating and enjoying life.

Yet, don’t mistake that context in doing whatever you want as long as you’re young and have the chance to do everything.

You should live in the present and enjoy life without putting yourself and your health at risk, which contradicts what other youngsters do nowadays.

Lines like ‘‘You only live once’’ or ‘‘Live while you’re young’’ sometimes bring some individuals into trouble like endless partying until it brings them a severe problem.

But in this context, you can live in the moment by forgetting the past mistakes that bring you continuous pain, regret, and any other negative feelings in your present self.

Forgive yourself for being that stupid young person who committed a couple of mistakes in the past and continues living now.

You can’t change the past, but you can still do something today to avoid the history of the past.

Do not be anxious about what the future brings. You don’t know it yet, so your parents and friends either. No one knows what awaits us tomorrow.

You’re not alone in that thought.

I’m not telling you to forget your past totally since it might be impossible for some, but do forgive yourself and accept that it’s already in the past.

Let the past mistakes remind you of how to be the better version of yourself, rather than dwelling on its negative impact on your life.

2. Go with the flow

Life is like a rollercoaster, or life is like a circle. Today, you might be on top, tomorrow; you might be at the bottom. No one knows.

I don’t know what will happen to me tomorrow.

Do I think about it? Yes, sometimes.

Does it disturb me?

No, it doesn’t disturb me that I am unsure of what tomorrow will bring.

And you should too. There’s no point in brooding over matters we are not sure of, or we couldn’t even control.

Let us accept the challenges life gives us today and concentrate on them.

Life is not a bed of roses; otherwise, life has no meaning.

Let’s just face it, challenges, and how we react to them make life more exciting.

Life is worth living when you know you have made through a lot, and yet, you’re still there, standing tall.

For you to find happiness and inner peace, let yourself adjust to life because it wouldn’t tune to your coping abilities.

If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t wonder if you’re getting stressed and anxious over small things in your life.

Enjoy and ride the wave of life and learn from life’s challenges.

3. Plan and achieve your goals

Have you ever dreamed once of becoming a billionaire?

What do you do to make that dream real?

To dream of becoming a billionaire one day is not bad and is normal, but if you’re not doing something to achieve it, it backfires you.

It brings you stress and disappointments, which hinder you in finding inner peace and happiness in life.

Dreams may not cost a lot, you can dream whatever you want, but make sure they’re realistic and achievable.

4. Unclutter

Are you like me who gets irritated after seeing clutter and mess?

Clutter doesn’t have a voice, but they’re louder than the noise when I see them before me. It drives me crazy until I couldn’t work or concentrate on my work.

I don’t know you, but uncluttering may help you find your inner peace if you’re at work or home.

You can start uncluttering your home, workspace at home, and even your digital space. An organized working area helps to have that peaceful thought, which leads you to productive working.

5. Focus on small things

Start and concentrate on small things and numbers that make you happy and give you that contentment.

Remember, quality is better than quantity.

Keep your friends who give you good advice, and motivate you to be a better you.

Focus on things that you can achieve right away, rather than stressing over big things which are almost impossible to attain.

Dreaming big is okay, but do not expect that you would reach those great dreams right away. It takes patience and hard work.

In this context, we don’t imply achieving big dreams or small dreams, but it also pertains to tasks and responsibilities in your life.

You’re not Wonderwoman or superman; you can’t do everything at the same time. To avoid getting frustrated, be realistic, and focus on small things that give you more peace of mind.

6. Appreciate what you have to attain happiness and peace of mind

A lot of people live with a constant sense of dissatisfaction. They are never satisfied with what they have and always want more. This is a recipe for unhappiness and stress. You must learn to appreciate what you have to attain happiness and peace of mind.

If you don’t appreciate what you have, you will never be happy or contented. There will always be something that bothers you or someone who has more than what you do.

It is important to cultivate a positive attitude of gratitude for all that we have been given in life, even if it is just the ability to walk or breathe freely. Being grateful can help us realize that there are many things that we take for granted every day which may not be available to others around the world.

7. Change your mindset to achieve happiness

With the power to change our mindset and how we react to things, we have the power to achieve happiness. We may not be able to change what happens in life, but we can influence how we deal with it and that is just as powerful.

How can I change my mindset and be happy?

A happy mindset is one of the keys to a happy life. There are many things that can help you change your mindset, including meditation, drinking enough water, making time for fun activities, spending quality time with friends and even playing with your pet.

8. Do not control what you can’t ever control

It’s important not to be in control of things that you can never control, as this will lead to unnecessary stress. Instead, we should focus on the things that we do have control over and do our best with them.

Controlling something that is incapable of being controlled will only tire you out.

If you are feeling exhausted, drained, and even depressed due to the chaos that is happening around you then it’s time to take control of your life rather than controlling things you know you can’t control.

What are things you can’t control?

You can’t control the weather, you can’t control when your flights are going to get delayed, and you can’t control when your phone battery is going to die. But with a little preparation, you can be prepared for whatever life throws at you.

9. Take care of yourself and practice self-care

Self-care is not just about the physical, it’s also about the mental and emotional.

Self-care is important for all of us. It has been proven that practicing self-care can improve our health, relationships, and work performance.

So if you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed or exhausted, remember to take care of yourself first.

Self-care is often seen as a selfish activity. In fact, it’s the total opposite. We all know how important self-care is, but we often push it to the side because of our busy schedules. It’s essential for your mental and physical health to take time out for yourself every day.

Always remember, self-care is never selfish and will never be.

These simple ways may be or may not be useful for you. It depends on what works for you and your coping mechanism in every life situation.
