work from home setup

Now that more companies are shifting to a hybrid or permanent work-from-home setup, it’s become even more important to create a suitable work-from-home space that’s comfortable but at the same time, conducive to doing focused work.

Having the discipline to work from home can be quite challenging at times, but it can be done with the help of a proper workspace that would inspire and motivate you to accomplish your tasks.

Here are some helpful tips on how you can create and design the perfect work from home space:

Choose a location you feel comfortable in

By the window overlooking a nice view? In a quiet, well-lit corner? Or perhaps even right beside your bed? Wherever you choose with regards to the location of your workspace, make sure that it provides you with a certain sense of comfort and calm. Move some furniture if you must, especially since you’re going to spend long hours in that area day in and day out.

Consider your tech needs

Since a lot of working from home relies on being online, you also have to see to it that you have enough power outlets and access to a reliable internet connection. Of course, there are many ways to go about it but if you want convenience, then choosing a space where you have outlets within reach is recommended.

Get rid of clutter

A cluttered space is a cluttered mind — or something like it. While it’s inevitable that your workspace at home can get quite messy as it would normally be in your office, it’s important to prioritize keeping it as organized as you can. Making a habit of keeping it clutter-free can help you focus better on your priorities and ease any lingering anxieties or worries that you may have. A clutter-free environment is simply calming, instilling more positive feelings in you as you go about your work.

Choose work furniture wisely

Depending on your budget, there are many ways you can buy or repurpose furniture for what you need at work. Choose furniture that would be able to accommodate your work equipment (e.g. laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitors, etc.) and other work essentials (e.g. notebook, folders, desk organizers, etc.). Comfort is also something you should try to strive for, especially when it comes to your work chair. In fact, a proper work chair is something that you should consider investing in more than any other work furniture.

Make it YOUR space

What makes a great work from home space is when it reflects your style and personality well. That’s one perk of being able to design your space — you can personalize it and truly own how it ends up looking. Of course, you can check Pinterest for some inspiration but at the end of the day, it’s those little additions that make you feel good about the space you’re in.
